Rondo

In soccer, a “rondo” refers to a training drill where one group of players tries to maintain possession of the ball while being pressured by an opposing group of players.

Typically, rondos are set up with a larger outer circle of players attempting to pass the ball among themselves while one or more players in the middle try to intercept or touch the ball.
The primary purpose of a rondo is to develop various skills such as passing, receiving, movement, and spatial awareness. It also teaches players to maintain possession under pressure and press as a team.

One of the most common rondo setups is the 5v2, where five players form a circle and two defenders are inside. The objective for the five players is to keep the ball away from the two in the middle. If the defenders win the ball or the ball goes out, roles might be rotated, and a player from the outer circle could move into the middle to defend.
