Konami Teases eFootball PES 2022 with Beta Announcement

Konami has just announced that its next-gen football simulation game eFootball PES 2022 will be getting a console cross-play open beta or, as Konami calls "New Football Game Online Performance Test" soon.

What does this mean?

Due to the Covid pandemic, the current-gen version of the series, eFootball PES 2021 Season Update, is a re-release of the 2020 version with a few tweaks, graphical improvements, and updated rosters.

This is the first iteration of the game where Konami can show off their game running on next-gen hardware. The 2022 version has been verified to be built using Unreal Engine.

Konami recently made the switch to Epic’s Unreal Engine to develop the very successful eFootball PES 2021 Mobile game. The game’s mobile version broke the 400 million player mark with this year’s iteration. Konami has already confirmed that the next-gen eFootball PES 2022 will run on Epic’s game engine and is confirmed to drop for PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

How do I sign up for the beta?

Head over to Konami’s official beta sign-up page to learn more. As of now, there is a survey available to fill out. Konami will pick players based on certain criteria in order to make sure that the launch is smooth.

Not much information was given out by Konami but we are sure that we’ll hear more from them very soon.

Konami’s eFootball PES 2021 Season Update released September 15, 2020. This year’s game was essentially a roster update with a few additional enhancements. The game received a Metacritic score of 73.
